Candle Care
Candle care
A hand-poured candle rewards a little attention.
The first burn
Let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the vessel — 2 to 3 hours for a Classic. Wax has memory: a short first burn creates a tunnel that never recovers.
Every burn
- Trim the wick to 5 mm before lighting. A long wick smokes and burns too hot.
- Burn no longer than 4 hours at a time.
- Keep away from draughts — they cause uneven burning and soot.
- Stop when 1 cm of wax remains, to protect the ceramic.
Extinguishing
Use a snuffer rather than blowing — no smoke, no scattered wax. Our trimmer and snuffer set does both jobs.
After the last burn
Place the vessel in the freezer for an hour; the remaining wax will pop out. Wash with warm soapy water. The vessel is now a vase, a holder, a jar — or take a refill and start again.
Safety
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Place on a heat-resistant surface.
